Pearson Prentice Hall Acquires Pearson Publications Company to Expand Legal Post-Secondary Offerings
Upper Saddle River, NJ - September 3, 2002. Pearson Education, the world's leading educational publisher (a Pearson company, NYSE:PSO), announced that its Prentice Hall imprint has acquired the legal and paralegal textbooks division of Athena Group. The acquisition of the division, called Pearson Publications Company (which had no prior connection to Pearson Education), includes twenty-nine titles as well as supplementary materials and companion websites.
The acquisition supports Prentice Hall's Career, Health, Education and Technology (CHET) division's commitment to providing high-quality, cost-effective publications for legal education, as well as training for paralegals which, according to the U.S. Department of Health, Education, and Welfare, is one of the fastest growing professions.
Prentice Hall has also created a new Pearson Legal Series, which will offer the acquired titles along with a range of media and instructor materials, curriculum development tools and testing solutions.

Pyle, Esq., Heather Slusher, and Carol M. Bast, Esq.; Essentials of Intellectual Property by Christian R. Andersen; and Computer Applications for Legal Professionals by John A.
