Skylight Professional Development Selected to Train City Teachers, Administrators

The Center for Educational Innovation-Public Education Association Announces Summer Professional Development Seminar

Upper Saddle River, NJ - July 17, 2002. SkyLight Professional Development, a business of Pearson Education (Pearson, NYSE: PSO), has been selected by The Center for Educational Innovation-Public Education Association (CEI-PEA) to conduct its summer professional development seminar on July 19th at the IBM Training Center in Armonk, NY.

Approximately 20 superintendents and 200 principals, teachers, staff developers and other administrators will attend the seminar. Throughout the day, Skylight consultants will run six different workshops in classroom management and in reading and math for elementary and middle school.

"The quality of service provided by Skylight Professional Development has always been exceptional," said Stephen F. Kahn, Director of Professional Development. "The materials used at the professional development workshops have been so effective that community school districts and schools have purchased books from Skylight to enhance performance in the classroom. Student performance has increased significantly; the results of this training in one case was to place the school as one of the top performing schools in the school district."

The Center for Educational Innovation was established in 1989 as part of the Manhattan Institute for Policy Research and merged with the Public Education Association to form CEI-PEA in early 2000. Composed of former superintendents and administrators from District Four, the non-profit organization provides school reform consultation, leadership development, and support and funding for 150 schools and districts in New York City and New Jersey.
